From MR-G, the top of the G-SHOCK line up, comes a new limited-edition model with Bluetooth, GPS, and solar power in a design that reflects ancient Japanese workmanship and culture. The Japanese samurai sword is widely regarded as a work of art that embodies the very soul of the samurai warrior. One of its fittings is the tsuba, hilt guard, whose strength and beauty is created by a traditional Japanese technique known as tsuiki. Components of each of these timepieces are handcrafted using a mallet and special chisel to hand carve a pattern known as arashi tsuchime, which resembles the texture of a stone surface. AIP, Arc Ion Plating, a state of-the art coating technology, is then used to give metal parts the characteristic colouring of artistic metalworking. Function-wise, this model is equipped with an advanced timekeeping correction system and smartphone linking for the ultimate in reliability and practicality. The result is a limited run of only 350 shock resistant full metal models that deliver Bluetooth GPS radio-controlled solar powered timekeeping.
